Auchan’s Russian division is to benefit from an investment of €195 million over the course of 2016, with the much of the funds to be pumped into expanding and revamping its supply chain operation in the Moscow Oblast area of the country, internationalsupermarketnews.com reports.
The capital will also be used for the creation of ten new Auchan City hypermarkets, 40 new Atak supermarkets, as well as a new meat-processing plant in Tambov.
This investment follows the €138 million Auchan poured into expanding its presence in Russia and Eastern Europe during 2015.
However, the French multinational hasn't revealed any plans to enlarge its network of Kazhdy Den supermarkets, its discount arm selling predominantly private label foodstuffs, outside of Moscow Oblast.
