Axfood has appointed Shoan Etemadi as the new managing director of Hemköpskedjan AB, which operates the Hemköp and Tempo chains in Sweden.
Etemadi, who currently serves as the deputy managing director and head of sales at Hemköpskedjan, will assume his new role on 15 August.
Etemadi will succeed Simone Margulies, who has been appointed as president and chief executive officer of Axfood.
He will also join the executive committee of Axfood, the company added.
'The Right Person'
Departing Axfood president and CEO Klas Balkow stated, "There has been much interest for this role, both from within the group and outside, which we of course have been very pleased to see. We have now concluded that the strongest candidate has been found internally.
"Shoan has done a great job in his current role as head of sales of Hemköpskedjan and has largely contributed to Hemköpskedjan’s success in recent years. Both myself and the incoming president and CEO of Axfood, Simone Margulies, believe that Shoan, with his business-driven leadership, is the right person to continue the journey to strengthen Hemköpskedjan’s position in the market."
Shoan Etemadi
Before joining Axfood, Etemadi spent 15 years in various roles in the food retail industry, including operations, purchasing and logistics roles at ICA and Lidl.
Commenting on the new role, Etemadi stated, "I feel both honoured and very happy to have been given the opportunity to take on the role as managing director of Hemköpskedjan.
"Together with management and the teams in both Hemköp and Tempo, as well as the many skilled franchisees and committed store employees across the country, it will be great to continue developing the business and attract even more new customers to our stores."
