Italian large-scale retailer Gruppo Bennet has expanded its presence in Crema, in northern Italy, with the acquisition of an Interspar hypermarket and shopping centre.
Gruppo Bennet has taken over the Bagnolo Cremasco hypermarket, operated by Interspar, and the Girandola shopping centre, owned by L'Alco.
'Development Strategy'
The acquisition is part of the group’s development strategy and is in line with its commercial model that focuses on retail areas of 4,500 to 5,000 square meters in size.
Over the coming months, Bennet plans to invest in refurbishing the hypermarket and the shopping mall.
Annual Turnover
Gruppo Bennet posted a turnover of around €1.6 billion in 2018, up 3% on the previous year. It operates 63 hypermarkets in Northern Italy.
Last year, Gruppo Bennet announced plans to join the Italian retail distribution group Gruppo VéGé from 1 January 2020.
Gruppo VéGé has 32 associate members with over 3,400 outlets.
