Petrol station operator OMV and retailer Billa have launched a new food retail chain under the Viva Billa banner.
The first Viva Billa store opened at the Strakonicka gas station near Chuchle in Prague, the retailer added.
The retailer plans to open three more outlets in Czechia by the end of this year.
Liam Casey, CEO of Billa Czechia said, "Customers demand quality and fresh food as standard, wherever they buy it. Now, together, we are bringing this standard to OMV gas stations, where customers can easily and quickly make their everyday purchases, as if they had visited any of our stores.[...]
"Viva Billa is a guarantee of quality for customers and a big commitment for us in fulfilling their expectations."
Viva Billa
At Viva Billa, customers can find over 1,100 SKUs, including the group's private brands.
In addition to an assortment of fresh food, mainly sourced from Czech suppliers, shoppers can also find fresh fruit, vegetables, cold meats, cheese, drinks and pastries, among other items.
Billa will deliver food to the OMV gas station three times a week directly from its central warehouse in Modletice near Prague.
Other Highlights
Customers of OMV gas stations that feature a Viva Billa store will also be able to find a complete range of freshly prepared sandwiches and other refreshments, including fair trade coffee made from freshly ground beans.
The interior will feature a relaxation zone for drivers on the road as part of the OMV VIVA concept, the reatiler added.
Daniel Vasilache, CEO of OMV commented, "The gas stations that feature a Viva Billa store take on a completely new dimension, which is sure to be welcomed by every busy driver on the road.
"Our common goal was to offer a wide and at the same time carefully-selected assortment of food, which saves customers time. During a short stop on the way from work or for the weekend, they can buy all the necessary groceries at the gas station."
