Austrian retailer Billa has launched a new CSR initiative through which it will donate used clothes to aid organisation Caritas Wien.
“Helping the deserving poor is a matter of great importance to us”, Billa said in a statement.
Every September, the company focusses on social engagement activities, motivating its staff to campaign for social projects. "I have donated my clothes to Caritas for many years now," Billa staff member and initiator of the project, Viktor Kattinger, said in a statement. “I am excited about the great appeal and helpfulness of my colleagues."
In 2014, Billa was able to donate 20 clothes-filled containers to Caritas. More than 880 Billa stores currently collaborate with charity organizations, distributing surplus product at those most in need. Since 2006, the retailer has also supported local food banks.
