Belgian retailer Colruyt Group has announced that its Bio-Planet chain has opened its first city centre supermarket.
The new store in Antwerp is a fully-fledged organic supermarket, which will carry over 6,000 organic and ecological products.
Jo Ghilain, business unit manager of Bio-Planet, said, “People are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of a balanced lifestyle.
“Nutrition is a major part of that. We aim to inspire and guide our customers in this area. From now on, with Bio-Planet in Wilrijk and the new supermarket near MAS, we’ll reach our customers in the north and south of the city more effectively.”
Renewed Freshness
The main aspect of the store are its fresh, daily, assortment of organic fruit and vegetables, bread, vegetarian food, meat, charcuterie and cheese. Bio-Planet is committed to a continuous renewal of products and said that this will invite consumers to discover new flavours and products.
Ghilain added, “Our new shop near MAS is an important new step for Bio-Planet towards a presence in the centre of a city. We’re looking forward to finding other suitable locations.
“Finding the right location, size and sustainable buildings in the city centre is a challenge. We’re aiming to open three new shops a year, both within city centres and nearby.”
The first city-based Bio-Planet store opened May 4th in Antwerp.
