Edgard Bonte has been appointed the new president of Auchan Retail, the Mulliez family has announced.
The announcement follows the departure of Régis Degelcke, the group’s former president, who has taken up a position at representative group EuroCommerce.
Future Evolution
Auchan said that Bonte’s appointment is accompanied by a ‘future evolution in the organization and operation of the company’.
This will see the abolition of the position of general manager of Auchan Retail, a position that had been held by William Hubner.
Bonte has also been appointed chairman of the executive board of Auchan Holding.
Bonte, 45, previously led another Mulliez family business, as president of clothing retailer Kiabi for the past eight years.
Present in 17 countries, Auchan Retail posted a turnover of €52 billion in 2017, boasting some 3,778 stores across all markets.
