Candando has opened its third hypermarket in Angola, according to Portuguese news agency Lusa.
Located in Viana, about 30 kilometres from the capital Luanda, the new hypermarket of the Contidis group has an area of 4,300 square metres and employs 375 people.
The Candando retail company is headed by Miguel Osório, who used to work for Portuguese retail company Sonae.
Expansion Plans
The retailer's first hypermarket opened in Luanda in May 2016, following an investment of US$40 million (€33.8 million). The second store opened in April of this year in Talatona, on the outskirts of Luanda.
At the time of the opening of the first hypermarket, Osório announced plans for ten Candando stores within five years, for an overall investment of US$400 million (€338 million).
