Groupe Auchan and Carrefour are to announce their respective reviewed policies on disability inclusion in moves expected to mean greater numbers of disabled people employed by the companies, as well as improved store-access for physically challenged people, lsa-fr reports.
Carrefour in particular has a strong track record in this regard, employing about 11,000 disabled people worldwide, a figure that increased by 21.3 per cent between 2011 and 2014. The multinational’s improvement follows the guidelines of the French state-run Mission handicap.
The multinational has a notably strong record in Brazil, where all of its stores employ disabled people. The slogan for this is “Eu pratico a inclusão” (“I include”).
Auchan is working with l’Association de gestion du fonds pour l'insertion professionnelle des personnes handicapées in a contract that runs until the end of December 2017. This agreement places special emphasis on training people with mental disabilities to become fishmongers, butchers, bakers, etc.
