Carrefour has teamed up with Nestlé to launch the 'Adopt a Fruit, Adopt a Vegetable' initiative in France to help parents in encouraging their children to adopt a healthier and more sustainable diet.
The campaign is in line with Nestlé for Healthier Kids and Carrefour Act for Food initiatives, both launched globally in 2018.
Commenting on the collaboration, Carrefour CEO, Alexandre Bompard, said, "As part of our Act for Food programme, we are working on the quality of our products by continuously improving them, so that eating once again becomes a pleasure and is no longer a source of concern for our health.
"By pooling our commitments with those of Nestlé Group, this partnership allows us to go even further to enable parents to offer their children a healthy and varied diet from an early age."
The Initiative
The retailer will offer free fruit and vegetables to parents and children, as well as recipes and cooking instructions.
Carrefour and Nestlé will also promote the consumption of organic, plant-based, and wholegrain food items as well as products that are low on sugar and salt.
Nestlé CEO Mark Schneider, commented, "The partnership with Carrefour will allow us to build greater awareness on the importance of eating varied and healthy meals – ones that include, among other things, more fruits and vegetables. It also offers helpful tools to support parents."
In the future, the initiative will be rolled out in Argentina, Italy, and other key markets for both companies.
In April of last year, Nestlé partnered with Carrefour and implemented blockchain technology to trace the journey of the food giant’s mashed-potato brand, Mousline, in France.
