Carrefour Belgium has announced plans to freeze the prices of more than 20,000 products until the end of this year to help households during the second wave of coronavirus pandemic.
It will include both national and Carrefour's own brand products, the retailer added.
The price ‘freezing’ will not apply on promotions, fresh items at variable prices such as fish, seasonal fruits and vegetables, and products from local producers.
Preserving Purchasing Power
The retailer added that preserving the purchasing power of Belgians is essential for the economy of Belgium.
Carrefour Belgium slashed the prices of 1,000 products in May, and ran a 'healthy prices' campaign in September to help households struggling with the pandemic.
It has also implemented measures to offer the best possible services to customers in a safe manner.
François-Melchior de Polignac, CEO of Carrefour Belgium, added, “We assure our customers that all Carrefour teams will be by their side during this period of confinement and that we will do everything possible to ensure their protection.”
