Carrefour has deployed a new 'urban' store format in Italy, offering a wider assortment of products and 'handyman' services for customers.
The first remodelled store has opened in Turin, with more following this autumn, including in Milan. Open 24 hours a day, the Carrefour Market Urbano store offers 8,500 products over an area of 785 square metres.
The main novelty is the Blue Box, a new service area where a team of professionals (electrician, locksmith, tailor, shoemaker, air condition and boiler repairman) is at hand between 09:00 to 21:00 to offer assistance. In addition there is a photo printing service, a pick-up point for online orders as well as laundry facilities.
Next to the Blue Box space is Market Cafè, a self-service dining area where visitors can purchase coffee, juice and cakes, as well as charge their mobile phones.
Also, the Turin store is the second in Carrefour Italia’s network to include the Lunchbox service, which enables consumers to purchase online products that make up a packed lunch, to be collected later from the shop.
