French retailer Carrefour has strengthened its presence in China, having opened nine new Carrefour Easy stores since the start of the year.
The company has recently expanded the Carrefour Easy convenience banner further with the opening of three new stores in Shanghai in July, August, and September.
Store Features
The stores, mainly spread over an area of between 100 and 250 square metres, were first launched in China in 2015. Since then the retailer has expanded the concept alongside its hypermarkets and e-commerce business, and the banner now encompasses 31 outlets in Shanghai and one in Wuxi.
The main focus is on everyday food items and services, which includes on-site catering, mobile payment facilities, wi-fi, lottery tickets, mobile top-ups, and a photo printing facility. The company says that the shopping experience 'combines convenience, practicality and freshness'.
