Carrefour has opened a 30,000 product strong hypermarket in Belgium Mons, Belgium, and has announced further plans to open two more hypermarkets in Romania, internationalsupermarketnews.com reports.
The new Belgian outlet, located in Mons’s prime shopping complex, the Grand Prés, places particular emphasis on wine, beer, and fresh produce.
There is also a strong element of transparency in the hypermarket’s layout, which allows shoppers to observe many of the foods it stocks being made or prepared within the store itself.
The French multinational has said that it will also build two more Romanian hypermarkets on the Boulevard Nicolae Iorga, and in Craiova, Eugen Carada Street, respectively.
Several weeks ago, Carrefour took an important step in increasing its penetration in the Asian FMCG sector by building its largest hypermarket in the continent.
