Carrefour has launched a large-scale recruitment drive, with particular emphasis on enlisting young personnel.
It has said it will hire 20,000 new staff under the age of 26 during 2015, which represents 50 per cent of the retailer’s total recruitment for the year. Similar numbers were newly employed in 2014.
Within its supermarkets, Carrefour has erected “L’emploi des jeunes” (“employment of the youth”) stalls at which representatives working on behalf of the grocer inform potential employees of the benefits of being under its employment.
The chain intends to acquire new butchers especially, with Isabelle Calvez, the supermarket's human resource director, outlining a plan to hire 700 new staff in this category between now and the end of next year.
