Carrefour Italia has introduced Express Urban Life, a new store format in Milan.
The store, located in Milan’s Corso Garibaldi, is not a traditional supermarket but rather a mix of a grocery store sporting a few shelves, with a bar serving lunches and cocktails, an area for food consumption and a co-working space.
The store occupies an area of 120 square metres, on two levels. On the first floor is the market, where consumers can purchase confectionery, delicacies, salads and pizzas. There is also sushi counter, brewery and a café that also serves fresh croissants. The second floor features a lounge bar and a co-working area.
According to Carrefour Italia CEO, Gabriele Di Teodoro, the new Urban Life concept transforms the neighbourhood store, making it a place to buy meal solutions for immediate or later consumption, as well as being a place to work, socialize or simply take a break.
