French retail group Carrefour has announced that is it appointing Laruent Vallée as general secretary, effective immediately.
Vallée has previously worked as general counsel at Canal+, and as general secretary of the Conseil Constitutionnel - France's constitutional court.
In his new position, he will be responsible for legal, sustainable development, public affairs, audit, and the Carrefour foundation. He succeeds Jérôme Bédier, who worked as general secretary and deputy chief executive officer for the past five years.
The new announcement comes as Carrefour reports that group sales were up by 3.3% in the first half of 2017. These were the first financial results to be posted since the appointment of new CEO Alexandre Bompard in July.
