French retailer Carrefour has named Alexandre de Palmas as the new executive director of Carrefour France, effective 4 September.
He succeeds Rami Baitieh, who is leaving the group to pursue a new professional project abroad, Carrefour added.
Alexandre Bompard, chair and chief executive officer of the Carrefour Group, said in a statement, "I would like to extend my warmest thanks to Rami Baitieh, who has served our Group for 28 years.
"During each of the difficult assignments that I entrusted to him and that he has fully taken on, particularly in France where he has revived the commercial his human qualities and his unfailing commitment to serving Carrefour. I know that he will be successful in his future career."
Most recently, de Palmas served as the executive director of Carrefour Spain.
Elodie Perthuisot
Elsewhere, Elodie Perthuisot has been appointed executive director of Carrefour Spain and a member of the group executive committee, effective 4 September.
This role is in addition to her position as executive director of e-commerce, data and digital transformation.
Bompard added, "I wish every success to Alexandre de Palmas and Elodie Perthuisot, who have demonstrated outstanding managerial skills and achieved remarkable results in their previous roles.
"I have every confidence in their ability to consolidate Carrefour's commercial momentum in France and Spain, and to accelerate the roll-out of the major Carrefour 2026 transformation projects."
In July, the French retailer reported a 11.2% increase in first-half sales on a like-for-like basis, with reported sales up 8.2% in the period.
In the second quarter alone, meanwhile, like-for-like sales rose 10.3%, with reported sales up 4.1%.
