Carrefour has opened a store in Madrid under its new banner, Carrefour Express Premium, with affluent urban dwellers the store's target market.
The Ortega y Gasset Street outlet offers a combination standard Carrefour produce as well as a ‘gourmet’ offering. The retailer says that its Market model has been “adapted to a wealthier clientele.”
The outlet places “emphasis is on fresh products with more than 600 out of 3,700” so classified.
The opening follows Carrefour’s ‘street market’ in Madrid, and its decision to expand 24-hour shopping in Spain.
