Following the successful opening of its first hypermarket in Yeravan on Wednesday, Carrefour is planing on expanding further within the Armenian capital.
"We have not met any obstacles in opening our hypermarket in Armenia. It is not the first time that Carrefour enters a new market and usually it takes us for about 3 years too get established." Christian de Nale, director of the Armenian Carrefour office, told Armenpress.
He added that the main goal of the new hypermarket was to offer Armenian customers quality products at affordable prices.
Wednesdays opening ceremony at Yerevan Mall was attended by Serzh Sargsyan, President of the Republic of Armenia, who also attended the signing of the initial lease agreement in 2014 alongside Francois Hollande.
According to a statement by the Armenian president's office made to Armenpress, Sargysan and other invited guests toured the hypermarket after the official opening ceremony and got acquainted with its products and price policy.
In 2012, Carrefour opened a hypermarket in Tbilisi, Georgia, making it the first Carrefour hypermarket in that region.
