Carrefour Polska has launched a limited edition ‘Let it Bee’ school notebooks in a bid protect biodiversity and urban beekeeping.
The notebooks were launched on 8 August, which is also celebrated as the Great Bee Day in Poland (Polsce Wielki Dzień Pszczół).
The retailer will forward 5% of the proceeds from the sales of each notebook towards initiatives aimed at protecting bees and beehives.
The notebooks, made of 100% recycled paper, are available in Carrefour hypermarkets and supermarkets across Poland.
Global CSR Strategy
Carrefour Polska initiated the Pszczele Hotele (Bee Hotels) project in 2016 as part the company's global CSR strategy.
The retailer has since installed 33 hives on the rooftops of Carrefour stores in 12 locations to provide shelter and protect city bees from extinction.
Director of quality and sustainable development department at Carrefour, Barbara Kowalska, commented, “It is an initiative that has a positive impact on the protection of biodiversity in urbanised space, and also draws attention to the need to build sustainable cities - protecting nature and meeting people's needs.”
The Pszczele Hotele (Bee Hotels) project has also strengthened social awareness around urban beekeeping and the need to protect biodiversity.
