Carrefour Polska has named 14-year Carrefour veteran Christophe Rabatel as its new chief executive.
Rabatel commenced his career wit Deloitte, working in Paris and Montreal, before joining the Carrefour Group as controlling director for Europe.
Between 2006 and 2009 he held the position of financial and administrative director of the Carrefour Management Board in Turkey, and following this, with responsibility for the expansion and organisation of Carrefour Market stores in France.
Most recently, he was executive director for Carrefour’s convenience operation in France, a position he has held for three years.
He holds an Institut Commercial diploma from Nancy and an MBA from the University of Indiana in Pennsylvania.
Growing Operation
Carrefour operates some 900 stores in Poland across five formats: hypermarkets, supermarkets, residential and specialist stores and an online operation. It also runs a network of 20 shopping centres, as well as more than 40 petrol stations.
In March, the retailer announced that sales grew by 5.5% in full year 2017, reaching PLN 9.68 billion (€2.3 billion), as a result of continued expansion and modernisation.
The retailer invested PLN 244.6 million (€58.12 million) in its network during the year, opening three new hypermarkets, eight supermarkets, and around 100 residential stores.
This includes the new high-tech Carrefour PRO store in Warsaw, which was opened in December and features a range of new commercial concepts and digital retail solutions, such as interactive ordering screens.
