Carrefour Romania, BT Direct Launch Carrefour Direct Card

Retailer Carrefour Romania and BT Direct, the consumer finance division of Banca Transilvania Financial Group, are launching a new shopping card that offers added benefits in the retailer's stores.

With the new Direct Card from Carrefour, shoppers can obtain financing on the spot and a 5% cash back on the value of purchases made by paying in full in Carrefour stores and online.

'Service Portfolio'

Julien Munch, CEO of Carrefour Romania, said, "Our mission is to build a comprehensive universe where our product portfolio is complemented by our service portfolio for a seamless shopping experience.

"With the card launched together with our partners at BT Direct, we are expanding this universe and offering Romanians the possibility to buy their desired products, food or non-food, in an even more economical and secure manner."

The card is available to all of the retailer's customers and can be obtained at the group's hypermarkets.

The user can avail of on-site financing of up to 40,000 lei (€8,098.5) and 5% cash back on the card for any subsequent purchases, made by full payment with the Direct Card in multi-format physical stores (hypermarket, supermarket, express stores, and Supeco) and through the online channel, Carrefour.ro.

Nicoleta Bott, deputy general manager of BT Direct, said, "We are happy that together with our Carrefour partners we have optimised our financing solution, offering Romanians a unique product on the market, very easy to access.

"Along with financing, it also enjoys the additional benefits for purchases brought by the new Carrefour Direct Card, a product that we are convinced will meet their needs and generate a new shopping and payment behaviour."

Carrefour Romania Direct Card Features

With the new Direct Card from Carrefour, customers can shop in stores or online, with 0% interest during the grace period, which lasts up to 55 days.

Other highlights include contactless payments for purchases up to 100 lei, mobile phone payments through the BT Pay app, as well as cash withdrawals.

The card also allows payment in interest-free instalments, directly at stores.

Shoppers can pay in instalments for purchases from anywhere in the country or abroad, from any physical store or online, with full payment.

For a minimum of 500 lei spent, a transaction can be divided into three interest-free instalments, or between four and 36 instalments, with only 1% monthly interest, through the Rates Anywhere programme, a benefit that can be activated via SMS.
