Carrefour Romania has increased the wages of its employees and decided to give them monthly instalments of food vouchers that can be redeemed in Carrefour hypermarkets nationwide, Romania-Insider.com reports.
The increase in staff payment applies to 95 per cent of the chain's personnel. This will be a raise of between 16 per cent and 21 per cent of the basic rate of pay, which stands at RON 1,000 (€223).
The monthly wage increase of RON 160-210 (€36-47) will be supplemented by Carrefour food vouchers, with which each employee will be able to purchase RON 197 (€44) worth of the retailer's food goods per month.
These come into effect in the context of strong forecast growth for Carrefour Romania. Its turnover broke the €1-billion barrier for the first time in 2014.
