Carrefour Shareholders Back Plassat For Another Three Years

George Plassat is to remain at the helm of Carrefour for at least another three years after the retailer’s board voted by 89 per cent in favour of extending his contract, LSA reports.

The firm’s shareholders’ general assembly vote was carried out this morning (11 June) at the Carrousel du Louvre. Plassat used the occasion to formalise his return to his role after being absent for medical reasons (Pierre-Jean Sivignon and Jérôme Bédier had been together filling in for Plassat since February).

Plassat stated, “There is no good or virtue in a company which assesses itself solely in financial terms.”

“The Carrefour group is gaining momentum, becoming increasingly multi-format and -channel, multi-local, and undergoing hybridisation,” he added.

Plassat also praised Philippe Houze, the CEO of Galeries Lafayette, and Ginette Moulin, its largest shareholder, for the knowledge of Carrefour’s business, and Galeries Lafayette’s investment in it.
