Carrefour is reportedly negotiating the purchase 36 Eroski supermarkets in Spain, in a deal said to be worth in the region of €205 million.
According to Laverdad.es, the first phase of the purchasing was approved by the National Commission of Markets and Competition (CNMC). Currently there are five supermarkets that will change hands: two located in Lorca, and one in Murcia, San Javier and Águilas.
The sales are part of the strategic plan of Eroski to strengthen its core stores.
The other stores that will be sold are in Algeciras, Antequera, Ceuta, Fuengirola, Roquetas de Mar, Vélez-Málaga, Amposta, Cornellá, Cullera, Denia, Ondara, Orihuela, Sa Coma, Sant Cugat, Santa Pola, Son Cotoner and Terrasa.
