Carrefour announced that it will construct a new 100,000-square-foot hypermarket in the United Arab Emirates, located in new nature-inspired shopping centre Cityland Mall.
Its grand opening will be in the second quarter of 2018, TradeArabia.com reported. It will be the largest hypermarket in the Dubailand area.
Next year, Carrefour will continue its UAE expansion and open ten more retail units.
Miguel Povedano, executive regional director for Carrefour UAE, said, “We are delighted to announce the location of our latest hypermarket in Cityland Mall, which will serve residents of the wider Dubailand area. The Cityland Mall Carrefour hypermarket will offer customers both variety and value on up to 80,000 products, catering to a wide range of tastes and needs.”
Fahimuddin Sharfuddin, chief executive officer and a board member of Cityland Group, added, “We are pleased to have Carrefour as an anchor tenant in Cityland Mall to enhance the world-class retail experience that customers can expect when they visit the mall.”
The Cityland Mall is advertised as a sustainable, ecologically friendly centre and will boast a 200,000-square-foot outdoor garden called Central Park, featuring the country's biodiversity in unique attractions, the publication said.
