Carrefour To Sell 100 Of Its Dia Supermarkets

Carrefour is to sell 100 of the 750 Dia stores it purchased last year, after the retailer confirmed the stores are not to feature in its 'transformation plan'.

LSA reports that the retailer has said the outlets in question “are not sufficiently in catchment areas,” or are “not sufficiently competitive.”

The transformation plan, which is to be completed by the end of 2016, incorporates the rebranding of Dia supermarkets in France as either Carrefour Market, Carrefour Market or Carrefour Contact outlets.

32 of the supermarkets that Carrefour regards as unprofitable are situated in the Rhine-Rhône region of France; 23 are in the west-centre section of France; and 19 are in the north-west of the country.

The rest are located across the country, though the south-east and Ile-de-France (Paris) areas will not be affected in terms of these Carrefour sales.
