Carrefour Group has announced that its products will go on sale on African e-commerce platform Jumia Marketplace.
The announcement folllows the signing of a partnership between two of Carrefour’s international partners – Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) and CFAO Retail – with Jumia.
As a result of the partnership, Carrefour products will go on sale in four African markets – Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Senegal and Kenya.
Stronger Presence
‘Thanks to this new Partnership, Carrefour is bolstering its presence in Africa – a continent which is seeing extremely fast growth in e-commerce,’ Carrefour said in a statement.
Carrefour operates via franchises in seven African countries.
The Majid Al Futtaim group is a longstanding partner of the group, which operates 250 stores in the middle-East and in Africa, including six in Kenya.
Elsewhere, the CFAO Retail group, which operates in French-speaking African countries, has three stores in Ivory Coast, one in Cameroon, and another scheduled to open in Senegal in the first quarter of 2019.
