After more than 15 years as the chilled-pizza leader in Spain, Casa Tarradellas has a vast knowledge of producing both chilled and frozen stonebaked pizzas.
Today, the family-owned company has 12 production centres, more than 2,200 employees, and boasted an annual turnover of more than €900 million in 2017, of which 10% was invested in R&D.
Innovation is an aspect that characterises Casa Tarradellas. In 2008, it was the first company to offer stonebaked gluten-free pizzas. These are produced in a completely segregated production facility, in order to prevent cross-contamination. The facility has the capacity to produce 20 million gluten-free pizzas per year.
This year, Casa Tarradellas has been proud to announce the introduction of the first gluten- and lactose-free four-cheese chilled pizza with quinoa sourdough, which offers a healthy twist to the traditional four-cheese pizza and is perfect for people with coeliac disease or a lactose intolerance.
As a result of its ongoing commitment, Casa Tarradellas has become the European leader in the production of gluten-free pizzas.
Constant Innovation
It is clear to see that constant innovation and growth is still yielding positive results. In 2017, an additional pizza production plant was inaugurated to introduce brand-new products to the European market.
For instance, Casa Tarradellas is now introducing ultra-thin and crispy pizzas. These are made from fermented dough balls shaped into a thin circle on a lightly floured surface and slowly baked on a pan to achieve an irresistible crunch.
Another addition this year consists of deep-pan pizzas. These authentic American-style pizzas are baked on a pan to achieve a crust that is soft and fluffy on the inside but crunchy on the outside.
Classic Recipe
Even though Casa Tarradellas is always innovating, it doesn't tinker with the production of its classic chilled stonebaked pizzas, which are improved every day. These pizzas are made according to traditional Italian-style recipes. They undergo a double fermentation process, and a wide range of recipes and sizes is available.
The company’s top priorities include food safety, quality and environmental protection, and it complies with BRC, IFv6, EMAS and OHSAS 18001 certifications. Moreover, it was the first Spanish company to receive the AENOR animal welfare standards certification for its sow farms.
