The Fédération Française des Banques Alimentaires (FFBA) has signed its third three-year agreement with Groupe Casino to donate meals to those in need.
The partnership between the two bodies, which began in 2009, has resulted in the distribution of about 70 million meals across France.
Some 5,824 tonnes of produce was donated in 2015 – a 28-per-cent rise on 2014 which amounted to about 11.6 million meals. The FFBA also benefits from Casino’s Fondation Monoprix, which contributes capital to purchase industrial cooler systems and vans.
Casino’s HR director, Yves Desjacques, said that the company’s “collaboration with Les Banques Alimentaires benefits those most in need, and is a cornerstone of our societal engagement policy.
“Through this partnership, Casino expresses the value of solidarity, which is at the heart of our culture. We are happy to contribute millions of meals to those who need them, as part of this strong and effective agreement."
