Group Casino chief executive Jean-Charles Naouri has outlined his plans for the development of a delivery model in the French capital, Paris, in a discussion with Bernstein Research.
According to Bernstein, the Casino CEO said that ‘delivering into Paris from a warehouse is very complex given the time it takes to reach different parts of town’.
The solution, he outlined, is to push delivery through Franprix, its network of smaller stores around the city.
‘Casino has 100s of Franprix stores in Paris, so close to consumers; consumers will order through Cdiscount and the nearest Franprix will deliver using an 3rd party delivery company within 90 minutes,’ said Bernstein, noting that this would be ahead of Amazon’s two-hour delivery promise.
Naouri added that delivery would be free above a threshold minimum basket size.
