Groupe Casino's Franprix banner is 'combining its expertise' with e-commerce channel Cdiscount, to develop what the retailer has said is an 'enriched customer experience' for consumers living in major cities.
In Paris, for example, the two retailers are launching an 'express delivery service' that will enable users to receive food (including hot and cold dishes) as well as non-food products in 30 minute or less, utilising Franprix's network of stores across the city.
The delivery service will also facilitate the delivery of top-selling items on the Cdiscount platform, such as toys, small appliances and DIY items, to be delivered in 90 minutes.
'In the home delivery market, a strategic issue in the Paris region, the challenge is to reconcile the digitalisation of the offer with the need to maintain a close relationship with consumers,' Franprix said in a statement.
'This is the challenge that Cdiscount and Franprix have embraced by combining technological solutions and the network of 900 Franprix stores - a point of sale every 500 meters - thus guaranteeing the quality of service in an extremely short time frame.
In addition, Cdiscount spaces are to be installed in Franprix stores, enabling shoppers to purchase online items while in-store.
Online Additions
On the Cdiscount platform, shoppers can now purchase around 800 SKUs of the le drugstore parisien banner, a drugstore business operated by Franprix.
The group will also develop a wine shop online, in association with Franprix, that will offer promotional deals on new wines, the retailer said.
"In this era of the growing need for immediacy, [...] this partnership, bringing together two experts in their respective fields, will particular help push the limits when it comes to speed of delivery of food and non-food products," commented Jean-Charles Naouri, Casino Group president.
"This alliance between two brands of the Casino Group shows that it is possible to continue to innovate more by creating unprecedented synergies combining the digital world and physical world," he added.
