Charcoal-flavoured goodies will be the new on-trend food for 2017, Waitrose has predicted.
The retailer already introduced a charcoal-flavoured bagel with star chef Heston Blumenthal this year, and the sooty flavour will be added to more Waitrose products in the new year.
Island-inspired Polynesian food, and fish dish poke (raw fish soaked in lime, sesame, and soy), will also become a lunchtime favourite as lighter eating becomes more popular.
'Alternative' waters with uncommon flavours such as birch, bamboo and cactus will continue to gain steam. Beyoncé-favoured WTRMLN WTR could be one such hit, the company said.
Waitrose's executive chef, Jonathan Moore, commented: "Our shoppers are adventurous and always enjoy trying something new".
"As a nation we eat out and travel more than ever so it’s important we scour the globe for new food and drink ideas for our shoppers to enjoy at home, too."
