Concession catering company Chef Express, a subsidiary of Italy’s Cremonini Group, has opened a new Chef Store market at the Arno West service area, on Italy’s A1 motorway.
Located south of Incisa and Valdarno, the store format, developed in partnership with Italian farmers’s group Coldiretti, enables consumers to appreciate typical products of the territory, with more than 130 companies involved.
According to Chef Express CEO, Cristian Biasoni, the new concept consists of “a retail space without having to follow a forced path to the exit, as is the case in almost all motorway markets”.
Special emphasis has been given to a section of Tuscan regional products, called 'Buoni&Vicini: culinary excellence of the territory'. Thanks to the agreement with Coldiretti, high quality products are offered to travellers guaranteed by the FDAI (Firmato dai Agricoltori Italiani) brand.
A total of 165 references are available, including wine, beer, bakery products, pasta/rice, cereal/flour, vegetables, cheeses, sauces, spices, to sweet and savoury preserves.
The new market format is being gradually extended to the other motorway service areas managed by Chef Express: by 2017 their number will reach 15, arriving to a total of 21.
