Carrefour Group has announced the appointment of Christophe Rabatel as the executive director of Carrefour Italia, effective 1 September 2020.
He will also join the group’s executive committee and report to Alexandre Bompard, Carrefour's chairman and chief executive officer.
He will be responsible for carrying on the transformation of Carrefour Italy and ensuring its recovery in a competitive market.
Commenting on the appointment, Bompard, said, “He [Christophe Rabatel] has done excellent work in Poland and I have complete confidence in his ability to oversee Carrefour Italy's continued recovery.”
An Experienced Professional
Rabatel is an experienced professional and is currently employed as the executive director of Carrefour’s Polish unit - a position he held since 2018.
In 2004, he joined the Carrefour group and held several financial roles across Europe.
He took on the role of the CFO and administrator of Carrefour Turkey, followed by the director of finance, expansion and organisation for Carrefour Market in France.
He was then appointed as the regional director for Carrefour Proximité in France, before taking over as the executive director of the division in 2015.
'Outstanding Work'
In the new position, Rabatel is to replace Gérard Lavinay, who has decided to retire.
Bompard added, “I would like to thank Gérard Lavinay for his outstanding work with the Group over more than 40 years. The various positions that he has held – right up to the very highest – perfectly illustrate how strong talent can rise through the ranks at Carrefour.
“Over the past three years, he has played a key role in our transformation and has provided me with invaluable support.”
Tareck Ouaïbi, the director of operations for Carrefour Poland, will replace Rabatel as the new executive director of the division, Carrefour added.
