UK retailer The Co-operative has signed a concession deal with Churchill Catering to revamp and relaunch ten coffee shops within its convenience stores.
The shops will be under the new brand name '& Coffee' and will be developed to act as a community hub, stocking locally-sourced products.
The Co-Operative said that the new stores will also provide tailored food menus for breakfast and lunch.
Ridgeway Store
The first & Coffee outlet will open in August at the Ridgeway store with the rollout programme continuing to the end of October.
“We want the coffee shops to be a place for the community to meet and enjoy a range of quality drinks and snacks, all under the new & Coffee banner," commented Mark Pettigrew, director of innovation and format, The Co-operative.
The coffee shops being revamped and refitted are in stores in Heathfield, Holmfirth, Hove, Inverness, Louth, Peacehaven, Ridgeway, Ryde, Wadebridge, and Wickford.
"We are looking forward to working side by side with the in-store managers to create community hubs that provide more than just a great cup of coffee,” added Ian Surtees, chief executive officer, Vertas Group.
