Belgian retailer Colruyt Group has commenced the distribution of removable and reusable grips for shopping trolleys at Colruyt Lowest Prices stores and Collect&Go pick-up points.
The grips aim to offer a safe shopping experience by enabling customers to use trolleys without coming in direct contact with the handles.
The retailer has teamed up with Clics Toys for the initiative, which will involve the distribution of approximately six million sets of Clipeez grips, for free, to Colruyt customers.
'A Practical Tool'
Regional director of Colruyt Lowest Prices, Geert Gillis, said, "The grips are a practical tool that will be part of the new normal, like wearing a face mask. We ask our customers to bring both tools each time they come shopping.
"Even if the coronavirus measures are being relaxed, our customers' safety remains our top priority."
The product is 100% recyclable and reusable, and can be easily cleaned in a dishwasher or with water and soap, the retailer added.
Distribution Plan
Presently, the grips are being distributed in 30 stores across four regions of the country.
By the end of July, Colruyt expects to complete the distribution of free grips across all regions.
The retailer also announced plans to sell the Clipeez grips in its stores, beginning this autumn.
