Belgian corporation Colruyt Group has announced plans to launch a tailored management-training programme for recent graduates. The Start2Re-Tale course will pack theory, workshops, internships and assignments - covering sales, logistics and support services - into a ten-week, full-time programme.
The course, scheduled for March 2017 will offer 16 places to recent graduates with an interest in retail management. As the programme aims to bridge the gap between education and the labour market for (young) professionals, on finishing the course the graduates will be invited to apply for a position at Colruyt.
"Start2Re-Tale is an innovation in this market. The programme positions itself as being somewhere between non-compulsory academic training - such as postgraduate courses - and compulsory company traineeships. (...) Successful participants will receive a certificate," said Jan Van Holsbeke, Sales Division manager at OKay, a subsidiary of Colruyt group.
He added, "With Start2Re-Tale, we want to show young people that retail is a fascinating sector, with a lot of opportunities for the future."
Colruyt Group currently employs 1,750 managers and has around 150 vacancies in management every year.
