Belgian retailer Colruyt has opened a new store in Braine-l’Alleud, about 20 kilometres south of Brussels, to replace a store that it says had become too small to offer its customers the best possible service.
Store manager, Laurent Cardoen commented, “This new-generation store is even more efficient and makes shopping more pleasant for our customers.
“When making renovations, we always aim at simplicity and the lowest costs, as our customers expect us to.”
The store has been built on piles, which means Colruyt could add a large covered car park, from which customers can take a lift or escalator to the store.
The new Colruyt Braine-l’Alleud also includes a redesigned butcher’s department, which Head Butcher Mathieu Sannen says gives customers "a nice overview of the range of meat, cold cuts and salads."
Customers will be able to see the butchers at work in an open workshop, and easily speak to them if they have questions or special orders.
The store also features Colruyt’s 175th Collect&Go pick-up point, for the brand’s online shopping service.
"Collect&Go is the handy service of Colruyt where we shop for the customers", Cardoen explained.
"They send their shopping list to collectandgo.be on their PC or smartphone, and the Collect&Go team has their products ready at the pick-up point on the day and time of their choice."
