Italian regional grocery retailer Conad Adriatico has reported that it ended 2016 with a turnover of €1 billion, up 4.8% year-on-year.
The company has 377 sales points with a total area of 230,698 square metres. This includes six Conad Ipermercato outlets, four Conad Superstores, 143 Conads, 119 Conad Citys, 34 Margherita Conads, 49 Todis stores, 19 L’Alimentare store, one PetStore, and two fuel distributors.
The retailer operates in the Italian regions of Marche, Abruzzo, Molise, Basilicata and Puglia, as well as in Albania and Kosovo.
Future Investment
The 2016-2019 strategic plan foresees €86 million of investments, including €61 million for new store openings and €25 million to modernise the store network.
According to a company press release, 22 new supermarkets will be opened this year, including seven in Albania. The retailer plans to consolidate its presence in Italy’s Abruzzo region, where it will open five new stores, taking the total to 135.
From June, the retailer will also complete the rebranding of the Sisa Centro Nord stores to Conad, 13 of which are located in Abruzzo.
Conad Adriatico has a 12.7% market share in Italy and is the market leader in both Abruzzo (24.9%) and in Molise (20.6%).
