Italian supermarket chain Conad is planning to invest €188 million in 2016 to expand its network with 88 new stores, totalling 78,800 square metres of retail space.
Conad is present in all regions of Italy, with 3,055 outlets (a total of 1,918,013 square metres) in all store formats. It holds a 20.1-per-cent market share, ending 2015 with a turnover of €12.2 billion, up 4 per cent on 2014.
In 2015, Conad’s private-label brand grew by 7.5 percentage points above the market average (18.8 per cent). One in three products sold in its stores carries the Conad brand, accounting for sales of €2.8 billion (+10 per cent y/y).
Last year saw growth across the retailer's full range of own-brand lines, including Sapori&Dintorni Conad (+12 per cent) and Conad il biologico (+30 per cent).
