Italian supermarket chain Conad has opened three new stores, in the Abruzzo, Molise and Liguria regions.
Conad Adriatico has rolled out a new 1,700 square metre store in Martinscuro (Abruzzo region), of which 600 square metres is dedicated to fresh produce, reports Corriere del Adriatico. More than 8,500 SKUs are available in the store. The store is equipped with energy-saving technologies, including a solar thermal plant for hot water production. The latest opening takes the store network in Abruzzo to 130.
The retailer has also inaugurated a Conad hypermarket in Montenero di Bisaccia (Molise region), with 3,170 square metres of sales area, of which 900 square metres is dedicated to fresh products, according to Il Centro. More than 15,500 references are available to shoppers. The store uses LED technology that enables electricity savings of up to 70% compared to standard solutions.
Elsewhere, Conad del Tirreno has opened its seventh supermarket in Viareggio (Liguria region), with a sales area of 1,500 square metres, over 11,000 SKUs, and 10 check-out tills (including three self-service checkouts). The store has the usual sections, with special attention paid to the fresh department, organic and local products. The 'Ordina&Ritira' service enables customers to shop online and choose when to pick up the grocery shopping at the point of sale.
Meanwhile, Cascina is set to get its first Conad supermarket on 23 November, according to Pisa Today. The store, run by Conad del Tirreno, will spread across 1,200 square metres of retail space, with seven cash registers, of which five are traditional. Highlights will include a wide assortment of organic and wellness references, as well as local products.
