Consum Opens 15 New Charter Supermarkets In First Half Of 2016

Supermarket chain Charter, a franchise owned by Spanish co-op Consum, has opened 15 supermarkets during the first semester of 2016.

As reported by expansion.com, six of these shops are based in Valencia, four in Catalonia and three in Murcia.

In total, Charter has added, 4,300 square metres of sales surface between January and June 2016, and has now 240 supermarkets in Catalonia, Aragin, Comunidad Valenciana, Murcia, Castilla-La Mancha and Andalucia.

The company plans to open a further 27 Charter shops before the year ends, and expects to surpass €203 million in sales this year, figures that would mean an increase of 9% compared to 2015.

Consum owns 661 supermarkets and registered sales of €2,121.2 million in 2015.
