Continente and Nestlé are among the top 10 'green' brands in Portugal, in the categories 'Hyper/Supermarket' and 'Food', respectively.
The 'Trusted Brands 2016' study, conducted by Reader's Digest magazine, assesses the confidence levels of consumers in 'environmentally friendly' products.
The other companies included on the list are CTT (public service), EDP (energy suppliers), Miele (large appliances), Philips (Lamps/Lighting equipment), Renova (paper manufacturers), Toyota (cars), Valorsul (waste treatment) and Vulcano (heaters).
When asked about confidence in the products and brands that claim to be 'Friends of the Environment', 42 per cent of consumers admit to trusting them 'enough' and 11 per cent say they trust them 'very much'.
As regards to the frequency of purchase of said products, 49 per cent do so "sometimes", 27 per cent often, 23 per cent rarely and 1 per cent never.
