Continente Transforms Colombo Store Into 'Hypermarket of the Future'

Portuguese hypermarket chain Continente has transformed its Colombo store in Lisbon by deploying a new concept that is inspired by traditional markets.

The refurbishment is part of the conversion strategy for the Continente outlets into 'Hypermarkets of the Future'. The new Colombo store has a sales area of around 11,100 square metres and employs 458 employees.

The store features a new decorative, modern and innovative style, marked by natural colours, favouring comfort, highlighting the quality of products and facilitating consumer choice. It also contains some innovative spaces such as the new area dedicated to nutrition and biological products, a 'premium' wine cellar, as well as spaces dedicated to spices and exotic fruits.

The Colombo store also contributes to raising environmental awareness in the local community, with the presence of deposits for used cooking oil, used batteries and cork stoppers.
