Italian regional cooperative and supermarket chain Coop Alleanza 3.0 has launched a new initiative to help consumers against rising energy bills.
From 15 November to 31 January 2023, as part of the ‘Accendi Luce & Gas Coop’ campaign, customers will be able to convert the points on their Coop member card into discounts on electricity and gas bills.
For every 950 points, shoppers will be able to avail of a €25 discount on their energy bills and the benefit can be claimed several times, on the same or subsequent bills.
‘Accendi Luce&Gas Coop’ is Coop’s energy service that supplies electricity and gas services to around 160,000 consumers. Its sales corners are available in 300 Coop branded outlets.
Other Support Measures
New customers of ‘Accendi Luce & Gas Coop’ will receive €80 in shopping vouchers for ‘DualFuel’ contracts (i.e. electricity and gas) and €40 for ‘MonoFuel’ contracts.
Coop Alleanza 3.0 has earmarked around €1.5 million for these initiatives.
The retailer has also implemented support measures for consumers, such as ‘Prezzo Tutelato’ (Protected Price) on a basket of 600 products (300 Coop private-label brands and 300 other brands) chosen directly by members through a survey.
Coop Alleanza 3.0, the largest member of the Coop Italia network, is targeting €1.6 billion in sales by 2024, as it expands its presence in southern Italy.
Coop Alleanza 3.0 has 2.5 million members and over 400 stores in 12 regions, namely Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Veneto, Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Marche, Abruzzo, Apulia, Basilicata, Sicily, Trentino, Lazio and Campania.
