Italian cooperative retailer Coop Alleanza 3.0 has inaugurated a new hypermarket concept, with the opening of three new stores.
The new Extracoop hypermarkets are located in Bologna, Modena and Ravenna. They have replaced existing stores, which are the largest in the cooperative’s network, at 10,000 square metres, 12,000 square metres and 9,500 square metres, respectively.
An estimated €30 million has been invested in the project, with the hiring of 200 new employees, reports Il Resto del Carlino.
New Store Model
According the company, the new store model has been introduced to respond to the changing needs of both cooperative members and consumers.
The new Extracoop format includes an extensive offering of both food and non-food ranges, as well as speciality services such as an opticians, jewellers, perfumery, and a beauty centre.
Novelties also include a sushi bar, a salad bar, and an area dedicated to cooking demonstrations.
