Coop Denmark has named Thomas Brebøl Christensen as its new chief financial officer and executive vice-president, effective 1 March.
He will also join the company's executive board and oversee the finance, technology and law divisions.
He replaces Kræn Østergård Nielsen, who stepped in as the chief executive in September of last year.
Christensen is an experienced professional and most recently, served as the group CFO of the Danish farm supply company, DLG amba.
Previously, he was the chief financial officer of Danish Crown Pork.
He has also held senior positions in a number of large foreign companies such as Mondelez, Kraft Foods and Cadbury.
'In-Depth Financial And Strategy Experience'
Commenting on his appointment, Nielsen said, "Thomas [Brebøl Christensen] has in-depth financial and strategy experience from some of the largest international companies in our industry, and a strong educational background."
Elsewhere, Maria Beck-Tange took over as the new chain director for Dagli'Brugsen.
"With Maria and Thomas on the team, our new management team is about to be in place. Thus, we are as well equipped as possible to achieve our goal of becoming Denmark's most customer-oriented company with growth, innovation and green transformation at the top of our agenda." Nielsen added.
