Coop Sweden is introducing a new range of sweets into its stores, which contain 95% less sugar and up to 50% fewer calories than traditional sweets.
The candy, produced by newly-formed Swedish company Tweek, was trialled in ten Coop stores earlier this year, and will now be introduced to another 100 stores throughout Sweden.
"It became clear after only a few weeks out in the pilot stores that Tweek's candies are popular with Coop's customers and it is fun to be able to offer it in over 100 stores this summer," said Karolina Hagberg, business director of purchasing at Coop Sweden.
New Product
Tweek's product line consists of 24 different varieties of confectionery, including chocolate and jellies. They contain only natural colours and flavourings, with no preservatives, and are a source of dietary fibre.
"We have developed a new type of candy that we hope will inspire new, wiser choices in everyday life," said Åsa Rosén, founder of Tweek.
"With our unique selection of ingredients we have created a candy with 95% less sugar and up to 50% fewer calories without having to compromise on taste and experience. Cooperation with Coop feels perfectly natural because we are companies that are committed to driving innovation for a more sustainable society."
